Josh Morgan is being a good sport for the San Francisco 49ers

Josh Morgan has been helping rookie WR Michael Crabtree cram the playbook despite the fact that he will likely bump him into being the #3 WR on the Niners.  Morgan has caught 17 passes for 264 yards (15.5 avg) with 1 TD grab this season.  He has also carried the ball 1 time for six yards this season.  Morgan is a good football player and he and Michael Crabtree could be both starting at some point this season and down the road so it was smart of him to be a team player.  Michael Crabtree caught 5 passes for 56 yards (11.2 avg) in his season debut last week.

The San Francisco 49ers annoint Alex Smith the new starting QB

The San Francisco 49ers have replaced Shaun Hill as the starting QB as they will go with Alex Smith for the time being.  Smith played in his first game of the season last week against the Texans and he completed 15 of 22 passes (68.2%) for 206 yards with 3 TD passes and 1 INT (118.6 QB Rating).  He also carried the ball 2 times for 16 yards (8.0 ypc) last week.  This will be an interesting move as Shaun Hill was not playing that poorly this season.  Hill started the first six games of the season for the 49ers and he completed 87 of 155 passes (56.1%) for 943 yards with 5 TD passes and 2 INTs (79.6 QB Rating).  He also carried the ball 8 times for 70 yards (8.8 ypc) this season.  Smith has a stronger arm than Hill and this is the best talent he has ever had around him so he will have no excuses for failure this time around as the starting QB.

The heat seeking missile is off to another great start for the San Francisco 49ers

24-year old inside linebacker Patrick Willis is off to another great start for the Niners this season.  He has 29 tackles, has defensed 2 passes and he has 1 interception in the Niners’ first three games.  He also nailed QB Matt Hasselbeck of the Seahawks causing him to break a rib.  Hasselbeck has not played since and it’s hurting the division rival Seahawks as Seneca Wallace is not a good starting QB.  Willis has been a beast since entering the NFL as he was awesome in his first two years.  Willis played in 32 games his first two years and he made 315 tackles, had 5 sacks, defensed 15 passes, forced 3 fumbles and he intercepted a pass that he returned 86 yards for a TD.  Look for him to continue to dominate for the 49ers.

Vernon Davis is stepping up for the San Francisco 49ers

25-year old TE Vernon Davis is living up to his ability this season.  He has caught 14 passes for 168 yards (12.0 avg) with 2 TD grabs already this season as the Niners are focusing on short passing and the running game.  Davis has always had Pro Bowl type of ability and it’s starting to show now.  In his first three years, Davis played in 40 games in which he caught 103 passes for 1,132 yards (11.0 avg) with 9 TD grabs.  The time is now for Vernon Davis to shine.

Isaac Bruce never seems to get old for the San Francisco 49ers

You would never know that Isaac Bruce is 36 years old if you watched him play.  He caught 4 passes for 74 yards (18.5 avg) in his season debut against the Cardinals.  Bruce has now played in 214 games in his NFL career and he has caught 1,007 passes for 15,018 yards (14.9 avg) with 91 TD grabs.  He also has carried the ball 25 times for 139 yards (5.6 ypc) in his career.  Isaac Bruce is without a doubt the best WR on the 49ers right now and Shaun Hill will turn to him when he needs a big play in the passing game.
