The San Francisco 49ers lose Josh Morgan for a while

Blogged under Bloglockers,Breaking Niner News,Front Page,General Niners Chat,Injury Reports by admin on Tuesday 11 October 2011 at 7:45 pm

The San Francisco might be without 26-year old WR Josh Morgan for the rest of the season as he broke his leg in garbage time against the Buccaneers last Sunday.  Morgan has played in 5 games for the Niners this year and he has caught 15 passes for 220 yards (14.7 avg) with 1 TD grab.  The Niners are hoping that 26-year old Ted Ginn will step up and into the starting lineup.  Ginn has played in all 5 games for the Niners so far this year and he has caught 4 passes for 38 yards (9.5 avg).  Ginn has also carried the ball 2 times for 24 yards (12.0 ypc) so far this year.  This is going to put a lot on Ted Ginn’s plate as he has been awesome as the punt and kickoff return man so far this year for the 49ers.  Ginn has returned 9 kickoffs for 309 yards (34.3 avg) with 1 TD return and he has also returned 17 punts for 201 yards (11.8 avg) with 1 TD return so far this year for the Niners.

UPDATE:  (10/13/2011) – The 49ers have placed Josh Morgan on the Injured Reserve List ending his season.

The San Francisco 49ers lose CB Tramaine Brock for a while

Blogged under Bloglockers,Breaking Niner News,Front Page,General Niners Chat,Injury Reports by admin on Thursday 6 October 2011 at 10:46 pm

23-year old CB Tramaine Brock is out indefinitely due to surgery he has had this week to repair a broken right hand.  Brock has played in all 4 games for the Niners this year and he has 4 tackles, 2 interceptions and 2 passes defensed.  He has now played in 7 games in his first two years with the 49ers and he has 8 tackles, 2 interceptions and 2 passes defensed.  This injury hurts the secondary depth and the special teams of the Niners, so they hope Brock can return sooner rather than later.

Frank Gore is iffy for the San Francisco 49ers as far as next week is concerned

Blogged under Bloglockers,Breaking Niner News,Front Page,General Niners Chat,Injury Reports by admin on Monday 26 September 2011 at 11:30 pm

28-year old RB Frank Gore is iffy for next weeks game with the Eagles due to an ankle injury.  Gore has gotten off to a rough start this year for the Niners.  He has played in all 3 games this year and he has carried the ball 59 times for 148 yards (2.5 ypc) with 1 TD run.  He has also caught 6 passes for 36 yards (6.0 avg) so far this year.  If Gore can’t go against the Eagles, rookie 23-year old Kendall Hunter would likely be the featured back.  He has played in all 3 games so far this year and he has carried the ball 11 times for 30 yards (2.7 ypc) with 1 TD run and he has also caught 2 passes for 12 yards (6.0 avg).  24-year old Anthony Dixon would also see a positive bump in P.T.  He has played in all 3 games for the Niners so far this year and he has 1 carry for 6 yards.  The 49ers will need all hands on the deck to beat the desperate Eagles, so they hope that Gore is ready to go next Sunday.

The San Francisco 49ers lose Braylon Edwards for a while

The 49ers have lost 28-year old WR Braylon Edwards likely for multiple weeks as he had surgery today to repair a torn meniscus in his right knee.  This is a big blow to the 49ers as Edwards was expected to be the #1 WR in 2011.  He has played in both of the games so far this year for the 49ers and he has caught 4 passes for 48 yards (12.0 avg).  The Niners hope that Edwards is a quick healer because they really need him.

The San Francisco 49ers place TE Nate Byham on I.R.

The 49ers have placed 23-year old TE Nate Byham on the Injured Reserve List ending his season.  He tore his Achilles tendon in practice recently.  Byham played in 14 games (3 starts) for the Niners as a rookie last year and he caught 5 passes for 27 yards (5.4 avg).  This will hurt the Niners’ depth at TE.

The San Francisco 49ers place Patrick Willis on I.R.

The 49ers have placed 25-year old inside linebacker Patrick Willis on the Injured Reserve List as he needed a second surgery on his broken right hand.  Willis played in 15 games for the Niners this year and he has 128 tackles, 5 tackles for a loss, 6 sacks, 5 passes defensed and 2 forced fumbles.  Willis has now played in 63 games in his first four years with the 49ers and he has 595 tackles, 28 passes defensed, 15 sacks, 8 forced fumbles and 4 interceptions (2 returned for TDs).  The 49ers were glad that Willis played with a broken hand for a few weeks because the defense just isn’t that good without him.  They will really miss Willis tomorrow if the Cardinals decide to run the ball a lot.

The San Francisco 49ers lose Travis LaBoy for the rest of the year

The 49ers have placed 29-year old OLB Travis LaBoy on the Injured Reserve List with a knee sprain.  LaBoy played in 14 games for the Niners this year and he had 28 tackles, 2 passes defensed, 1 forced fumble and 5 sacks.  The Niners are going to miss LaBoy’s pass rushing ability the rest of the year.

The San Francisco 49ers place Joe Nedney on I.R.

Blogged under Bloglockers,Breaking Niner News,Front Page,General Niners Chat,Injury Reports,Steppin Up by admin on Sunday 19 December 2010 at 3:39 am

The 49ers have placed 37-year old kicker Joe Nedney on Injured Reserve with a knee injury, ending his season.  Nedney played in 9 games for the Niners this year and he connected on 11 of 13 field goals and 17 of 17 extra points good for 50 points.  But with the way 31-year old Jeff Reed is kicking the ball, Nedney may have played his last game for the 49ers.  Reed has played in 3 games for the Niners and he is 7 of 7 on field goals and 6 of 6 on extra points good for 27 points.

The San Francisco 49ers place Dominique Zeigler on I.R.

The 49ers have placed 26-year old WR Dominique Zeigler on I.R. ending his season due to a torn ACL.  Zeigler played in 10 games for the Niners this season and he caught 8 passes for 88 yards (11.0 avg).  He also had 2 tackles this year.  Zeigler has now played in 18 games in his first two years with the Niners and he has caught 13 passes for 185 yards (14.2 avg) and he has 7 tackles.  The Niners aren’t going to miss Zeigler too much the rest of the season.

The San Francisco 49ers lose Frank Gore for the year

Blogged under Bloglockers,Breaking Niner News,Front Page,General Niners Chat,Injury Reports,Needs To Step Up by admin on Tuesday 30 November 2010 at 3:33 pm

The 49ers will be without 27-year old RB Frank Gore for the rest of the season due to a fractured hip.  Gore played in 11 games for the Niners this year and he has carried the ball 203 times for 853 yards (4.2 ypc) with 3 TD grabs.  Gore also caught 46 passes for 452 yards (9.8 avg) with 2 TD grabs this year.  Frank Gore has HUGE shoes for the 49ers to fill but Brian Westbrook & Anthony Dixon looked capable last night.  31-year old Brian Westbrook wasn’t used much so far this year so he should be fresh.  Westbrook has played in 9 games for the Niners so far this year and he has carried the ball 28 times for 145 yards (5.2 ypc) with a TD carry.  He has also caught 5 passes for 38 yards (7.6 avg) as he is a very solid receiver out of the backfield.  Rookie 23-year old Anthony Dixon has played in 11 games so far this year and he has carried the ball 24 times for 72 yards (3.0 ypc) with 2 TD runs.  I think the Niners are in good hands as long as Westbrook & Dixon stay healthy.
