The San Francisco 49ers had control of this game from start to finish.  Alex Smith was very efficient once again for the Niners as he completed 17 of 24 passes for 200 yards with 1 TD pass and 0 INTs.  Frank Gore led the way on the ground for the Niners in this game with 107 yards rushing on 19 carries (5.6 ypc).  Rookie RB Kendall Hunter pitched in with 8 carries for 25 yards (3.1 ypc) in this game.  WR Michael Crabtree (5 rec, 51 yards), TE Vernon Davis (4 rec, 41 yards) and fullback Bruce Miller (1 reception good for a 30 yard TD) led the way in the passing game for the Niners.  The 49ers finished up with 138 yards rushing on 32 carries (4.3 ypc) and they also completed 17 of 24 passes (70.8%) for 188 yards as they had possession of the ball for 32:19.

The defense was rock solid for the Niners in this game.  LBs Patrick Willis (13 tackles and 1 pass defensed) and NaVorro Bowman (8 tackles, 2 passes defensed and 1 fumble recovery) led the way for the 49ers on D in this game, as usual.  Safeties Dashon Goldson (6 tackles, 1 pass defensed, 1 QB hit and 1 interception) and Donte Whitner (6 tackles, 1 QB hit and 1 interception) also pitched in for the Niners in this game.  The Redskins finished up with 52 yards rushing on 15 carries (3.5 ypc) and they also completed 30 of 47 passes (63.8%) for 251 yards.  The 49ers are now an amazing 7-1 on the season.

The Niners built up a 17-3 lead at the half before coasting the rest of the way.  Alex Smith was in game manager mode for the Niners and he completed 15 of 24 passes for 177 yards with 1 TD pass and 0 INTs.  He also carried the ball 4 times for 22 yards (5.5 ypc) in this game.  Frank Gore was very solid for the Niners yesterday with 31 carries for 134 yards (4.3 ypc) with 1 TD run.  Kendall Hunter pitched in with 3 carries for 26 yards (8.7 ypc) in this game.  WR Michael Crabtree (5 rec, 54 yards, TD) led the way for the 49ers in this game.  WR Braylon Edwards (4 rec, 42 yards), TE Vernon Davis (3 rec, 27 yards) and OT Joe Staley (1 rec, 17 yards) also pitched in for the Niners in the passing game.  DT Isaac Sopoaga also pitched in with 1 catch for 18 yards in this game.  The Niners finished up with 174 yards rushing on 39 carries (4.5 ypc) and they also completed 15 of 24 passes (62.5%) for 174 yards as they had possession of the ball for 32:53.

The defense was outstanding for the 49ers yesterday.  LBs NaVorro Bowman (12 tackles, 1 tackle for a loss and 1 pass defensed) and Patrick Willis (7 tackles, 2 tackles for a loss, 1 sack and 1 QB hit) led the way for the 49ers in this game on D.  LB Ahmad Brooks (3 tackles, 2 sacks, 1 tackle for a loss and 2 QB hits), safety Dashon Goldson (4 tackles, 1 pass defensed and 1 interception) and DT Isaac Sopoaga (1 tackle, 1 tackle for a loss and 1 fumble recovery) also pitched in with big plays for the Niners’ D in this game.  The Browns finished up with 66 yards rushing on 23 carries (2.9 ypc) and they also completed 22 of 34 passes (64.7%) for 224 yards.  The Niners are now 6-1 on the season.

The 49ers scored 10 points in the last 1:51 of the game yesterday to steal an impressive road win over the Lions.  Alex Smith was in game manager mode as he completed 17 of 32 passes for 125 yards with 1 TD pass and 1 INT.  Frank Gore led the way on the ground for the Niners in this game with 141 yards on 15 carries (9.4 ypc) with 1 TD run.  Kendall Hunter pitched in with 33 yards rushing on 8 carries (4.1 ypc) in this game.  WR Michael Crabtree (9 rec, 77 yards) and TE Delanie Walker (2 rec, 11 yards, TD) led the way in the passing game for the Niners.  Ted Ginn pitched in with 2 grabs for 24 yards (12.0 avg) and he also carried the ball 2 times for 21 yards (10.5 avg).  The 49ers finished up with 203 yards rushing on 29 carries (7.0 ypc) and they also completed 17 of 32 passes (53.1%) for 111 yards as they had possession of the ball for 29:39.

The defense was pretty solid overall against the potent Lions’ offense yesterday.  LB NaVorro Bowman led the way for the Niners in this game with 14 tackles, 1 tackle for a loss, 1 pass defensed and 1 QB hit.  DE Justin Smith (7 tackles, 1 tackle for a loss, 1.5 sacks and 3 QB hits), LB Patrick Willis (7 tackles, 3 passes defensed and 1 QB hit) and safety Dashon Goldson (7 tackles) also had solid games for the Niners yesterday.  LBs Ahmad Brooks (5 tackles, 1 sack, 3 tackles for a loss and 2 QB hits) and Aldon Smith (4 tackles, 2 sacks, 1 tackle for a loss, 1 pass defensed, 1 QB hit and a safety) also pitched in on D.  The Lions finished up with 66 yards rushing on 18 carries (3.7 ypc) and they also completed 28 of 50 passes (56%) for 244 yards.  The 49ers are now 5-1 on the season.

The San Francisco 49ers kicked the crap out of the Buccaneers yesterday!  Alex Smith was sharp in a game manager role yesterday as he completed 11 of 19 passes for 170 yards with 3 TD passes and 0 INTs.  Colin Kaepernick made his NFL debut late in this game and he completed all 3 of his pass attempts, good for 35 yards.  Frank Gore led the way on the ground for the Niners in this game with 125 yards rushing on 20 carries (6.3 ypc) with 1 TD run.  He also caught 2 passes for 18 yards (9.0 avg) in this game.  Kendall Hunter pitched in with 65 yards rushing on 9 carries (7.2 ypc) and Anthony Dixon had 2 carries for 4 yards (2.0 ypc) with a TD run also helped out with the Niners in the running game yesterday.  WR Josh Morgan (5 rec, 75 yards), TE Vernon Davis (3 rec, 39 yards, 2 TD grabs) and TE Delanie Walker (2 rec, 37 yards, TD) led the way in the passing game for the Niners.  The 49ers  finished up with 213 yards rushing on 36 carries (5.9 ypc) and they also completed 14 of 22 passes (63.6%) for 205 yards as they had possession of the ball for 31:03.

Linebackers Patrick Willis (12 tackles, 1 pass defensed and 1 fumble recovery) and NaVorro Bowman (6 tackles) led the way for the Niners’ D yesterday, as usual.  CB Carlos Rogers (interception that he returned 31 yards for a TD) and CB Chris Culliver (interception) also made big plays for the Niners in this game.  The Buccaneers finished up with 86 yards rushing on 23 carries (3.7 ypc) and they also completed 18 of 35 passes (51.4%) for 186 yards.  The Niners are now a solid 4-1 on the year.

San Francisco 49ers 24, Philadelphia Eagles 23

With the 49ers down 23-3 in the 3rd quarter, head coach Jim Harbaugh finally took the shackles off the offense…and that’s why they won.  Alex Smith was solid as he completed 21 of 33 passes for 291 yards with 2 TD passes and 0 INTs.  Sure he fumbled twice, but he only lost one of them.  Frank Gore led the way on the ground for the Niners in this game with 127 yards on 15 carries (8.5 ypc) with 1 TD run.  He also caught 2 passes for 12 yards today.  Kendall Hunter pitched in with 38 yards rushing on 9 carries (4.2 ypc) and he also caught 2 passes for 62 yards in this game.  WR Michael Crabtree (5 rec, 68 yards), WR Josh Morgan (3 rec, 65 yards, TD) and TE Vernon Davis (4 rec, 45 yards, TD) led the way in the passing game for the Niners in this game.  The 49ers finished up with 164 yards rushing on 25 carries (6.6 ypc) and they also completed 21 of 33 passes (63.6%) for 278 yards as they had possession of the ball for 28:52.

The defense played really solid football in the last 1.5 quarters for the Niners.  Safety Dashon Goldson led the way for the Niners in this game with 10 tackles and 1 pass defensed.  LBs Patrick Willis (6 tackles, 1 pass defensed), NaVorro Bowman (6 tackles, 2 tackles for a loss and 1 pass defensed) and Aldon Smith (5 tackles, 1.5 sacks, 1 tackle for a loss and 3 QB hits) also had big games for the Niners today.  The Eagles finished up with 108 yards rushing on 20 carries (5.4 ypc) and they also completed 30 of 46 passes (65.2%) for 405 yards.  The Niners are now 3-1 on the year.

San Francisco 49ers 13, Cincinnati Bengals 8

The 49ers played in close to the vest offensively and the defense made it stand up.  Alex Smith was sacked five times yesterday as he looked like a human pinata at times.  He still managed to complete 20 of 30 passes for 201 yards without a TD pass or interception.  Frank Gore had another rough game with 42 yards rushing on 17 carries (2.5 ypc) with a lost fumble.  Kendall Hunter was semi-effective for the 49ers yesterday with 26 yards rushing on 9 carries (2.9 ypc) with 1 TD grab and he also caught 2 passes for 12 yards (6.0 avg).  Fullback Bruce Miller pitched in with 1 carry for 2 yards and 4 grabs for 25 yards (6.3 avg) in this game.  TE Vernon Davis led the way for the Niners in the passing game with 8 grabs for 114 yards (14.3 avg).  The 49ers rushed for only 50 yards on 29 carries (1.7 ypc) and they completed 20 of 30 passes for 176 yards as they had possession of the ball for 35:20.

The defense was outstanding for the Niners in this game!  LB NaVorro Bowman led the way for the Niners in this game with 13 tackles and 1 QB hit.  Safety Dashon Goldson (8 tackles) and LB Patrick Willis (8 tackles and 1 pass defensed) also had solid games for the Niners.  Safety Reggie Smith and CB Carlos Rogers had one interception apiece for the Niners in this game.  The Bengals finished up with 79 yards rushing on 20 carries (4.0 ypc) and they also completed 17 of 32 passes (53.1%) for 149 yards.  The 49ers are now 2-1 on the year.

Dallas Cowboys 27, San Francisco 49ers 24 in O.T.

The 49ers gave this game away yesterday.  The Cowboys tied the game on the last play of regulation with a 48-yard FG.  Then the Niners won the toss and went three and out.  The Cowboys drove right down the field and kicked a 19-yard FG to finish off the Niners in O.T.  the 49ers need to quit being so damn conservative on offense and open up the playbook!  Alex Smith completed 16 of 24 passes for 179 yards with 2 TD passes and 1 INT.  He also carried the ball 3 times for 21 yards (7.0 ypc) in this game.  Frank Gore had a rough day as he carried the ball 20 times for 47 yards (2.4 ypc) with 1 TD run.  He also caught 3 passes for 17 yards (5.7 avg) for the Niners.  WR Ted Ginn (4 grabs for 38 yards), TE Delanie Walker (2 rec, 38 yards, TD), WR Josh Morgan (3 rec, 35 yards) and WR Kyle Williams (1 rec, 12 yards, TD) led the way in the passing game for the Niners yesterday.  The 49ers finished up with 74 yards rushing on 24 carries (3.1 ypc) and they also completed 16 of 24 passes (66.7%) for 132 yards as they had possession of the ball for 30:43.

The defense was impressive against the run but horrible against the pass in this game.  LBs NaVorro Bowman (10 tackles, 1 pass defensed) and Patrick Willis (9 tackles) led the way for the Niners on D yesterday.  Safety Donte Whitner (4 tackles, 3 passes defensed and 1 interception) and CB Tramaine Brock (4 tackles, 2 tackles for a loss, 1 pass defensed and 1 interception) also made some big plays for the Niners.  The Cowboys finished up with 45 yards rushing on 22 carries (2.0 ypc) and they also completed 26 of 43 passes (60.5%) for 427 yards.  The 49ers are now 1-1 on the year.

San Francisco 49ers 33, Seattle Seahawks 17

Ted Ginn and the defense were the stars of this game for the Niners.  The Seahawks cut the Niners’ lead to 19-17 late in the 4th quarter.  On the kickoff after the Seahawks pulled within 2 points of the Niners, Ginn returned it 102 yards for a TD.  On the next possession the defense forced a punt which Ginn returned 55 yards for a TD to put the final nail in the Seahawks’ coffin.  Ted Ginn returned 4 kickoffs for 176 yards (44.0 avg) and 5 punts for 92 yards (18.4 avg) overall yesterday as he was awesome.  LB NaVorro Bowman (7 tackles, 2 tackles for a loss), DT Ray McDonald (6 tackles, 3 tackles for a loss, 1 sacka and 3 QB hits) and LB Patrick Willis (5 tackles, 2 tackles for a loss, 1 pass defensed, 1 QB hit and 1 fumble recovery) led the way for the Niners’ D in this game.  DE Justin Smith and OLB Parys Haralson pitched in with 2 sacks apiece in this game.  CB Tramaine Brock (interception) and DT Will Tukuafu (fumble recovery) also pitched in for the Niners yesterday.  The Seahawks had 64 yards rushing on 22 carries (2.9 ypc) and they also completed 21 of 37 passes (56.8%) for 155 yards in this game.

The offense didn’t do much yesterday for the 49ers.  Alex Smith was in a game manager mode as he completed 15 of 20 passes (75%) for 124 yards without a TD pass or an interception.  Smith also carried the ball 7 times for 22 yards (3.1 ypc) with 1 TD run.  Frank Gore had to fight for every yard he got yesterday as he carried the ball 22 times for 59 yards (2.7 ypc).  He also caught 3 passes for 19 yards (6.3 avg) in this game.  TE Vernon Davis led the way in the passing game with 5 grabs for 47 yards (9.4 avg).  The 49ers finished up with 85 yards rushing on 32 carries (2.7 ypc) and they also completed 15 of 20 passes (75%) for 124 yards as they had possession of the ball for 31:07.  The 49ers have started the 2011 season with a 1-0 record.

The 49ers look great under Jim Tomsula in his first game as a NFL head coach as they dominated the Cardinals yesterday.  Alex Smith was solid yesterday as he completed 15 of 29 passes for 276 yards with 2 TD passes and 0 INTs.  Brian Westbrook looked solid once again against the Cardinals yesterday as he finished up with 79 yards rushing on 13 carries (6.1 ypc) with 2 TD runs and he also caught 1 pass for 14 yards.  Anthony Dixon had a rough with 22 yards rushing on 11 carries (2.0 ypc) yesterday.  Vernon Davis (3 rec, 96 yards, TD), Josh Morgan (3 rec, 59 yards), Michael Crabtree (4 rec, 47 yards) and Ted Ginn (2 rec, 41 yards, TD) led the way in the passing game for the 49ers.  The 49ers finished up with 100 yards rushing on 25 carries (4.0 ypc) and they also completed 15 of 29 passes for 262 yards.

The Niners’ D was awesome yesterday against the Cardinals.  DE Justin Smith (10 tackles, 3 tackles for a loss, 3 sacks and 3 QB hits), safety Reggie Smith (9 tackles), LB Ahmad Brooks (4 tackles, 1 sack, 1 tackle for a loss, 1 pass defensed, 2 QB hits and 1 interception) and CB Tarell Brown (4 tackles, 4 passes defensed and a interception that was returned 62 yards for a TD).  The Cardinals finished up with 78 yards rushing on 22 carries (3.5 ypc) and they also completed 30 of 53 passes for 201 yards.  The 49ers finish the season in third place in the NFC West with a 6-10 record.

St. Louis Rams 25, San Francisco 49ers 17

The San Francisco 49ers didn’t play too well on either side of the football yesterday in St. Louis.  Troy Smith started this game at QB and he completed 7 of 19 passes for 153 yards with 1 TD pass and 1 INT.  He also carried the ball 5 times for 28 yards (5.6 ypc) in this game.  Troy Smith fumbled the ball three times in this game, but while he didn’t lose any of them one of them resulted in a safety.  Alex Smith finished up the game at QB as he completed 10 of 15 passes for 120 yards with 0 TD passes and 0 INTs.  He also lost a fumble.  Brian Westbrook led the way on the ground for the Niners in this game with 40 yards rushing on 10 carries (4.0 ypc) and he also caught 2 passes for 3 yards (1.5 avg).  Anthony Dixon pitched in with 17 yards rushing on 6 carries (2.8 ypc) in this game.  WR Michael Crabtree led the way in the passing game for the Niners with 122 yards on 6 grabs (20.3 avg) with a TD grab!  TE Vernon Davis pitched in with 70 yards receiving on 3 grabs (23.3 avg).  The Niners finished up with 85 yards rushing on 21 carries (4.0 ypc) and they also completed 17 of 34 passes for 246 yards as they only had the ball for 26:52 in this game.

LB Patrick Willis led the way for the 49ers on D in this game with 12 tackles, 1 tackle for a loss, 1 sack and 1 QB hit.  CB Nate Clements (7 tackles, 1 tackle for a loss), DE Justin Smith (6 tackles, 1 tackle for a loss) and OLB Manny Lawson (6 tackles, 1 fumble recovery) also had decent games for the 49ers on D.  The Rams finished up with 60 yards rushing on 28 carries (2.1 ypc) and they also completed 28 of 37 passes for 275 yards.  The 49ers also had a big plays on special teams when Ted Ginn returned a punt 78 yards for a TD.  The 49ers were officially eliminated from the playoffs as they are now 5-10 on the season.
