The San Francisco 49ers bring back fullback Moran Norris

The 49ers have brought back 30-year old fullback Moran Norris.  Norris is a 6′1″, 250 pound blocking dynamo.  In 2006 and 2007 Norris was leading the way for Frank Gore who rushed for 2,797 yards on 572 carries (4.9 ypc) with 13 TD runs.  Coach Mike Singletary wants to get back to smashmouth football so this signing makes perfect sense for the Niners.  Norris played in 11 games for the Lions last season and he carried the ball only 1 time for 1 yard.  He also caught 4 passes for 16 yards (4.0 avg) last season.  Norris has now played in 85 games in his NFL career and he has carried the ball 11 times for 26 yards (2.4 ypc).  He also has caught 27 passes for 147 yards (5.4 avg) with 3 TD grabs in his career.  Norris is a team player who is more effective without the football in his hands.

The 49ers have signed 26-year old WR Brandon Jones to a 5-year, $16.5 million dollar deal (5.4 million guaranteed).  Jones played in all 16 games for the Titans last season and he caught 41 passes for 449 yards (11.0 avg) with 1 TD grab.  He also carried the football 2 times for 35 yards (17.5 ypc).  Jones has now played in 51 games in his NFL career and he has caught 112 passes for 1,380 yards (12.3 avg) with 9 TD grabs.  He also has carried the football 6 times for 76 yards (12.7 ypc) in his career.  Jones is running out of time to live up to his potential but the 49ers will give him another chance to prove himself.
