The 49ers had a rough time in this game as the Saints jumped on them early and never looked back.  QB J.T. O’Sullivan was under fire the whole game as he was sacked 6 times by the Saints.  O’Sullivan still completed 18 of 36 passes for 257 yards with 1 TD pass and 2 interceptions.  Frank Gore carried the ball 16 times for 82 yards (5.1 ypc) and he also caught 2 passes for 31 yards (15.5 avg).  Arnaz Battle was the main man in the passing game for the Niners with 7 catches for 120 yards (17.1 avg).  Ancient Isaac Bruce pitched in with 5 catches for 54 yards (10.8 avg) with a TD grab.  The 49ers finished up with 91 yards rushing on 19 carries (4.8 ypc) and they also completed 18 of 36 passes for 221 yards.

The defense was pretty awful in this game for the Niners but it’s hard to blame S Michael Lewis (11 tackles), LB Patrick Willis (9 tackles) and LB Takeo Spikes (8 tackles, interception) for the effort.  The Saints finished up with 104 yards rushing on 32 carries (3.3 ypc) and they also completed 23 of 35 passes for 363 yards.  The 49ers dropped to 2-2 on the season with this loss.
